PRESENT:
The Mexican Electricians Union (SME) is under a brutal crackdown by the state, business elites and the mass communication. The Federal Government has taken advantage of the differences that arose after the election of Secretary General of the SME, to interfere in the internal affairs of the union and the workers put the interests of capital and its government. The intention of the President
spurious, Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, who was imposed by a massive electoral fraud is not union democracy, but the destruction the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCT) of the EMS to prepare the ground for labor reform and privatization of energy sector.
The will of the majority of EMS workers, who spoke in favor of Martin Esparza Flores, is still unknown by the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, headed by Javier Lozano Alarcón, by refusing the delivery note making EMS Executive Committee elected democratically. The freezing of union dues is another affront more against workers and threats of repression and even requisition, if workers decide to stop work to defend their rights and achievements are to the agenda.
The differences within the SME, as any other union, must be settled internally under democratic methods and without any intervention. Open the door for the State to intervene in the unions, is to give him the opportunity for it to divide, weaken and destroy the organization working together with labor rights that they have acquired through struggle.
is no doubt that the Federal Government have the need to eliminate any opposition to realize its privatization plans and the EMS has been one of the organizations that are militantly opposed to such plans.
Therefore, the members of the Union of the Union Workers of the Institute of Higher Secondary Education Ontario (SUTIEMS), we express our solidarity with the struggle of the EMS workers in defense of their union, the electrical industry and national sovereignty, and we express our full support to their possible a strike by contract violation that is not giving the elected Executive Committee dues.
